What Does Paris Hilton, Brad Pitt, and Harry Potter Have in Common? Acne, Acne, and Acne
Bill Skywalker Edwards recently asked:
Yes Paris Hilton has been a victim of acne. One more thing to add to her bag of woe. Brad Pitt still has scars from his acne. The Harry Potter bunch had an outbreak during the filming of the last episode. Acne does not discriminate. It hits all ages, sizes, and colors. Acne does not care about your profession or social statis.
During times of high social interaction, such as proms, summer time beach parties, holiday seasons, also means high anxiety over appearance. That can trigger an outbreak of acne. Anxiety factors such as final exams, job interviews, and such can also cause acne outbreaks. In fact, the effects of acne go far beyond skin deep. It impacts a person’s self-esteem. Teens were most at risk, given the link between physical appearance and social acceptance amongst their peers.
Acne Kills!
Yes acne can kill. It can kill your social life. It can kill your confidence, your good looks, your chances for success.I remember as a young teenager I had acne, and no social life. I remember what it was like to be teased about having acne. One of the things that really hurt was when one of the older boys would say, the reason I had such bad acne was because I masturbated.
The sad part was I had no way to prove that what he said was not true. As a matter of fact I kinda believed him. Yes I like all the other teenage boys I did masturbate, and yes I had acne. So maybe there was a connection. To make things worse, no matter if it was true or not I was not going to give up masturbating.
As I got older and my acne subsided and eventually went away. That was when I found out that what I was told about acne was not true. Then in my early twenties it happened! An outbreak of acne. As I look back I can say it was not very bad, but to a young man just one pimple is one too many. That is when I began to study acne and it’s causes. There are a lot of products on the market, but I only know of one that really works using natural ingredients.
During my studies I have found out that teenagers are not the only ones that suffer from acne. There is adult acne, and even infantile or baby acne. Acne can strike anyone at any age. Because of the problems I encountered as a teenager I decided to create a blog to publish information that will be helpful to anyone suffering from acne.
My own personal preference is natural acne treatment, but I cover all kinds of acne treatments on my blog. Everyone is different and need different acne treatment. A very effective supplement in the treatment of acne is zinc. Yet there are some that may need laser treatment. But for most people there is a very simple inexpensive treatment for acne.

Cast Of Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
Ed Watkinson recently asked:
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is awaited and invented story action movie of the year. It is sure to hit the top charts for a very long time. The movie moves around Harry’s sixth year of education at the Hogwarts School Of Witch Craft And Wizardry.
David Yates has directed the movie and Steve Kloves has done the screenplay. The movie has been modified from a novel and most of the roles that were in the previous series are here in this series as well. The writer has introduced new exciting roles in the book so the movie also has some new faces that you will come across.
In this movie of the series, there is an air of war and tension in the Muggle world as well as the wizard world. Daniel Radcliff is performing the key role of the movie Harry Potter. He has done a flawless job of acting in all the Harry Potter films and has a great fan following. His two friends who are along with him in almost every shot of the movie are Ron and Hermione.
Rupert Grint is playing the character of Ron while Emma Watson plays Hermione Granger. The movie spins around these three major roles. Each role has performed with spectacular skills and expressions. Another character that is very close to Harry playing a vital role in specially this movie is Albus Dumbledore. Michael Gambon plays his role and has a great aura and personality in the movie.
Following the other members of the cast there are the teachers of the school. Dame Maggie Smith is playing Minerva McGonagall, the professor of transfiguration. The other professors at the school are Alan Rickman as Snape, Jim Broadbent as professor Slughorn, and Robbie Coltrain plays the role of Hagrid the gamekeeper.
The teachers and friends of Harry play a vital part in shielding him against the dark arts and evil forces at action against him. They all are a part of the secret organisation formed by Dumbledore known as the Order Of The Phoenix. The other good characters of the movie include Katie Leung as Cho Chang, Harry’s first crush. Ginny Weasley as Ron’s sister played by Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch plays the strange yet exciting part of Luna Lovegood.
The evil actors of the cast include Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy. Harry is in incessant conflict with him since his first year. David Bardley has adopted the sadist caretaker of Hogwarts Argus Filch, as his character. The main villain of the movie Lord Voldemort’s character is divided into two parts. Hero Fiennes-Tiffin has carefully played the younger dark lord. Ralph Fiennes play the older Voldemort.
His loyal followers famous as the Death Eaters who continue to haunt Harry’s life include Bellatrix Lestrange, Lusius Malfoy, Narcissi Malfoy and many more. The overall cast has been watchfully chosen and each actor has efficiently moved into his or her part making the movie a great hit.

Harry Potter - Joanne’s Dream
Ron Berry recently asked:
Late in June of 1997 in London a publishing company released what was to become a cultural phenomenon. The book’s author, a teacher, would go on to become a household name. Her journey took her from Gloucestershire, England, where she was born, through Exeter, a town in the south coast of England where she went to university, to a job as a research assistant for Amnesty International and on to teaching. Joanne Rowling’s lifelong dream was to be a writer…she succeeded.
Since the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (the title was edited to Sorcerer’s Stone in America because it was thought we wouldn’t associate magic and wizardry with the word Philosopher), the book now a series, has garnered world-wide attention, countless fans, numerous awards and accolades, drawing attention from film producers, video game makers and merchandisers.
The list of awards Rowling’s has received?
- 4 Whitaker Platinum Book Awards in 2001
- 3 Nestle Smarties Book Prizes in ‘97 and again in ‘99
- 2 Scottish Arts Council Book Awards
- the first ever Whitbread children’s book of the year award in ‘99
- and in 2006, the WHSmith book of the year
Oh, and her little friend, Harry Potter, who borrows his name from Rowling’s childhood neighbors, is a legend FROM her own mind.
Fans waited in long lines as the hours tick down to the official release date of each new book… many times at midnight! Special security measures had to be taken to ensure no books were sold before the actual date. Book store owners had to sign legal documents insuring they would not even open the boxes before then.
Numerous conventions, conferences and symposiums have sprung up all over the world. People couldn’t and apparently still can’t get enough of Harry and his clan. These gatherings feature speakers, book and film discussions, games and costumes. Just recently (May 2007)the was a conference in New Orleans - Phoenix Rising which ran from May 17th to the 21st.
From the site:
“The conference will examine the novels, the movies, and the extraordinary fan phenomenon during the day; then, attendees will revel with the beat of the Crescent City herself rising from ash and flame when evening advances.”
For those of you who might have missed it, don’t worry, there’s another schedules for August 7-11, 2008, in Chicago.
The impact on the publishing world was immense. So great was the clamor for each new book in the series that the New York Times was persuaded to reformat its best-seller list. Harry was taking up too many slots on the list. In 2002 just before the release of Goblet Of Fire the Times created a separate list for Harry Potter and the children’s book category.
The New York Times wasn’t alone. FedEx used 9,000 trucks whose sole purpose was to deliver the Goblet Of Fire to eager fans. Book retailers like Barnes and Noble, Amazon and Borders pre-sold books in spectacular amounts - 700,000 copies of Goblets Of Fire. Sales records were shattered with each new release.
In all the books alone have sold over 325 million copies worldwide. With the subsequent films, video games and merchandising that followed, Joanne, aka J. K. Rowling by her fans, is a billionaire.
In spite of her success, or maybe because of it, she and Harry have their critics. Right wing conservatives claim the premise of the series is designed to entice the younger generation over to the dark side by glorifying witchcraft. Personally, I think Bewitched already did that. But if you’re really that concerned that a work of pure fantasy will convince your child it’s ok to turn his 6th grade math teacher into the next slimy little spokesman for Geico, then learn calculus and help your child with his homework! On a side note - I have nothing against the Geico gecko, I think using cute little animals to sell insurance is brilliant.
For those of you dealing with separation anxiety over the departure of Harry and his gang, fear not! Although Rowling has decided to retire the teenaged wizard, she does plan to write an encyclopedia, an epilogue, which would detail some background information derived from the narrative, what happens after Deathly Hallows and reveals who will step into the Hogwart Headmaster’s position.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: a Spectacular Conclusion
Fletcher Mak recently asked:
After long waiting, J.K Rowling the renowned English storyteller finally unveiled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and the last book of the phenomenal series, Harry Potter. The breathtaking conclusion to J.K. Rowling’s series has lot more excitement for the readers. With great revelations, battles, and betrayals the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will leave spellbound almost every fan.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is more about coming in to the terms with the ultimate reality– death, which every person has to face one day. Despite many rumours and interpretations, Rowling’s seventh book has been widely acclaimed by the readers, because she is quite successful creating suspense by narrating increasingly dark and dangerous tales of magic and adventure, mingled with lessons of honour and contempt. It is another odyssey highlighting spellbinding tales of love and loss, and right and wrong.
The world of Harry Potter, as depicted by the author coexists between the mundane and marvellous, and so is the mortal world. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is more about Harry’s mission of life, i.e., not only about finding and destroying the Horcruxes, but it is his journey from boyhood to manhood. Here the protagonist Harry faces more danger than those depicted in the previous books. Harry is haunted by direct threat of the Death Eaters and is in constant dilemma of losing faith in himself. Rowling applies the same notion of Dumbledore’s warning about making choices between what is right and what is easy to conclude the story.
No doubt, the Potter fans will get the answers of most of the mysterious queries, specially the debated questions about Dumbledore and Snape. However, the 7th book of the Harry Potter series is an embodiment of J.K Rowling’s extraordinary imaginary power.
Rowling’s inclination towards the Christian concept of resurrection and accepting of self decay and disintegration is evident here from the way she crafts the conclusion of the series. As Rowling concludes, she glorifies parental bond–its power of conferring sacred protection to the children. She gives a spectacular conclusion to the series by gifting her favourite character with precious boon of parental love, including immortality.
Despite pre-release and internet leakage of the book before its official publication, reader’s enthusiasm is not marred, which is clear from its record sales of 8.3 million copies in the first 24 hours in the USA alone.

The Plot Of Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
Ed Watkinson recently asked:
The success of any movie is completely dependent on the storyline or scheme of that movie. It is not necessary that only reality based movies are successful, but most of the times idealistic or imaginary movies seem to be grasping the audience’s attention much more than pragmatic movies.
However, it would only happen if the story and plot would be perfectly written, and managed. It is the case with the upcoming new movie of the world’s most famous imaginary series of Harry Potter saga called Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which has now become the most awaited and highly anticipated movie.
It would be in the theatres and cinemas all around the world in this month of July. J.K Rowling has brought dramatic climaxes and twists in this sixth part of the series. The story has been written perfectly and flawlessly. The story begins with the meeting of Minister of Magic with the Minister of Muggles (humans) telling and warning him about the powerful position and malicious position of Lord Voldemort.
The story takes a suspense-filled climax when Severus Snape, whom Dumbledore trusts blindly, meets Narcissa and Bellatrix (mother and aunt of Draco Malfoy) and assures them that he will help Draco in whatever task he is up to, on the orders of Voldemort. Dumbledore takes Harry from his Muggle aunt and uncle’s house to have a meeting with old Professor Slughorn, who after meeting Harry agrees to teach in Hogwarts.
At the very start of Harry’s sixth year at Hogwarts, he gets the first utter shock, when Dumbledore announce that professor Severus Snape is going to teach Defence Against the Dark Arts. This offends Harry a lot, as he has always hated Snape. Professor Slughorn becomes the teacher of potions and gives Harry an old copy of Potion making.
Harry uses the perfect spells and methods written on it and becomes the most brilliant student of the class. The book has been the property of Half Blood Prince but Harry does not have the slightest guess about the Half Blood Prince. Sixth year has also brought pleasant changes in Harry’s life such as his romance with Ginny Weasley and the captaincy of Gryffindor Quidditch team.
Harry also has a doubt on Malfoy that he is doing something secretly, but could not guess the task. Harry has his secret meetings with Dumbledore in which he shows Harry the memories of different people relating to Voldemort. Then Harry receives another big shock when he gets to know that Voldemort has split his soul into seven parts called Horcruxes and he has to destroy them in order to finish Voldemort. On the mission of destroying a Horcrux in a cave, Dumbledore is badly injured and on returning Hogwarts, they get to know that Death Eaters have entered the school.
Malfoy’s duty was to give them an entrance in Hogwarts. Then the most unexpected thing of the whole series occur and Snape in front of Harry and Death Eaters kills Dumbledore and sneaks away telling Harry that he is the Half Blood Prince. Harry is now left alone on the dangerous mission of finding Horcruxes and destroying Voldemort. So, watch this action packed suspense filled, mysterious and full of thrill movie of the Harry Potter saga.

Malfoy’s Plot In Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
Ed Watkinson recently asked:
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the sixth part’s movie is due to release on 15 July 2009, almost 4 years after the book’s release. The Potter fans are biding their time and are impatiently waiting for it. They are expecting it to be more similar to the book as claimed by the director, David Yates.
Like the previous parts, Tom Felton plays Draco’s character. He has acted out the character flawlessly and is expected to be back in this part as well with the same zeal.
Draco Malfoy is a class fellow of Harry and in the Slytherin house. He belongs to a rich family of purebloods, the Malfoys. They were very proud of their wealth and the fact that they were purebloods. They were also known to be one of the most trusted followers of Voldemort. Draco and Harry have never gotten along since the day they met. Harry snubbed him when he tried to break Harry’s and Ron’s friendship. Draco felt offended and has been against him ever since. When in school, Draco had always tried to get Harry in trouble.
In this part, Draco has been given a task by Lord Voldemort of carrying out the murder of Hogwarts headmaster, Dumbledore. Draco’s mother, Narcissa Malfoy, was worried for her son and thought that he might be killed. Therefore, she took him to Professor Snape’s house and asked him to take care of him.
Harry, in the Hogwarts Express, spies on Draco while he was talking about the orders given to him by Voldemort. He notices Harry and immobilises him and breaks his nose. Since then Harry became suspicious of him and kept track of him throughout the year. He also warns Dumbledore about him but he refuses to take any action against him. During his sixth year, Draco also attempts to harm other students in Hogwarts. He tried to kill Katie Bell, a Gryffindor student, using a cursed necklace in Hogsmeade. Ron nearly died when he drank poisoned mead. In New Harry Potter Film, Harry suspected Draco to be behind these attacks.
Draco, being jealous of Harry’s friends’ support for him, led him to somehow become friends with Moaning Myrtle. Once in her bathroom, Harry spotted him, crying. Draco tried to attack him, but Harry was quicker and cast the Sectumsepra spell, which he learned from the Half Blood Prince’s notebook. Draco was severely wounded, and he lost a lot of blood. Snape, when heard Moaning Myrtle’s screams, showed up on the scene and healed him.
Draco also tries to kill Dumbledore as ordered by Voldemort. When Dumbledore was at the Astronomy tower with Harry, he put the body-binding curse on him and put him under the invisibility cloak. Draco arrives at the scene. There he reveals that he was the one who tried to kill Katie Bells and Ron. He also told him that he fixed the Vanishing Cabinet to let in the Death Eaters. Then, the Death Eaters and Snape accompany him who murders Dumbledore on the spot.
Draco Malfoy has been a very important figure in the whole story. He has been allowing ways for Death Eaters to get into the school and trying to kill fellow students also. Without him, the movie would not be thrilling.

Need a Christmas Present for your Child? Try a Harry Potter Audio Book!
Paul Simari recently asked:
I finally landed my dream job as an airline pilot. After all the years of training, all the hours logged in the air as an assistant pilot, everything finally came to fruition. There would be a lot of benefits to my new job. A big pay raise is the obvious one. Free airlines tickets anywhere in the world, great heallth insurance … my family was very proud of me, and I was proud of myself as well!
There was one major downfall though - nights away from my wife and four year-old son. American Airlines started me out flying international routes to and from London, which meant overnight stays in England several days a week. I would be spending much more time away from my family as I had in the past, and it would take a lot of getting used to.
My son, Ryan, would take it especially hard, I was sure. Every night before he went to sleep, I would always read to him for 10 minutes. It was our time to bond before he drifted off to sleep. He would look forward to it every day (as would I), and Ryan had difficulty falling sleep if I wasn’t there reading to him.
After my first couple weeks on the job, my wife Linda told me that Ryan just couldn’t fall asleep on the nights that I wasn’t home. He needed his daddy to read to him before he could fall asleep, she said.
I had just started reading him the newest Harry Potter book before I started my London flights. I wondered what I could do to soothe Ryan into falling sleep while I wasn’t there to read to him. Linda tried reading to him a couple nights, but it just wasn’t the same. He wanted to hear my voice.
That’s when I came up with an idea … a crazy one, but one that just might work. I bought an audio cassette tape online of the same Harry Potter book that I was reading to Ryan. I previewed it for free before I bought it to make sure that it was read by a male voice. It arrived in the mail two days later.
I set the tape to where I left off on the book with Ryan the night before, and asked Linda to put the cassette in the radio in Ryan’s room that night and press ‘play’. Before I left for work that afternoon, I told Ryan that I would be gone that night, but that I could read to him that night through the radio. He seemed a little puzzled, but said “Okay daddy!”
The next morning, my wife called me in London and told me it worked like a charm … she pressed play, left the room, and returned 15 minutes later to Ryan fast asleep with a big smile on his face. My idea was a success!

Michael Gambon As Dumbledore In The New Harry Potter Film And The Prequels
Ed Watkinson recently asked:
“Like a heartbeat. Something inside me. Some dream. I think its being a dreamer as a child. Dreamy kids become actors, don’t they?” - MICHAEL GAMBON
Born on 19 October 1940 in Dublin- Ireland, Michael Gambon is an experienced actor working since 1962. Throughout his dramatic career, he has worked with much consideration and motivation. According to Michael, all the characters he has performed, till this date, have proved to be just a variant of his personality and he did not have to mould himself much to suite the different role’s requirements.
He initiated his contribution in the film industry by Othello, his first film. He has been recognised for his conviction and exertion quite a number of times. BAFTA for “The Singing Detective” (1986) for the Best Actor, Royal Television Society Awards for Best Performance, Broadcasting Press Guild Awards for Best Actor and being nominated for Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor, are some of his major achievements that have augmented his image and respect in the industry.
In 2004, Michael Gambon took up a new diversified role of Albus Dumbledore, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, from fellow Irish actor, Richard Harris who died from Hodgkin disease. After that he continued to act in the two successive movies of the Legend and recently, he participated in the making of the new sensational penultimate sequel of Harry Potter.
In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, he remains equally spaced throughout the story. Primarily, he is forced to allow Dementors to enter the premises of Hogwarts, and then when due to them Harry falls from his broom during Quidditch match, he magically allows him to levitate with the help of his wand and slowly lands him on the ground. In the latter half, he allows Hermione to use Time-turner to save the hippogriff and rescue the innocent Sirius Black from Dementors and Azkaban. Whilst in the fourth part, Goblet of Fire, he announces the Triwizard Tournament and serves as its judge as well. Till the end he supports Harry and saves him from the imposter Moody who tries to hurt him as well.
In the fifth, previous launched film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore’s role is very much improved and made obvious. He is deposed from Chairmanship of the International Confederation of Wizards, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamont, and his Order of the Merlin First Class is also withheld. Besides, he attends Harry’s hearings along with a witness in order to save him from being expelled but does not converse with him throughout the tale until the latter half of the account. He also arrives at the Department of Mysteries to fight along with other wizards against the Death Eaters and calls the Ministry officials at the site of fight.
All these roles are remarkably and honestly performed by Michael Gambon. He completely portrayed the Rowling’s fiction as a real character. Without any short-comings, Michael justified the selection of his director. In the sequel, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the character of Albus Dumbledore takes up quite a distinctive edge than the prequels. It has been intended to increase its activity in unravelling the past of Voldemort and to prepare Harry for the upcoming war with him. He depicts the new illusion of the author, Horcruxes, and destroys those he could find like Marvolo Gaunt’s ring and a Locket. In the latter part of the account, however, he is murdered by Snape on behalf of Draco, as intended by Voldemort.
Michael Gambon has been by far, most suitable option for the role of Albus Dumbledore, as he has been successful in portraying the character imprinted in the book. Before the shooting could begin, Michael read the books to completely acknowledge himself of his role and make up his mind for carrying out the scenes in the best possible way. This would be his last film in the Harry Potter series, as the role of Dumbledore would seize here.

Prejudice in Harry Potter’s World: Legitimate Academic Study or the Latest Rowling Fleece?
Eliza Days recently asked:
Oxford graduate student Karen A. Brown has published a study on discrimination in J.K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ novels (See http://www.thelppc.com/featuredbook-prejudiceinharrypotter.html). While it has been widely acknowledged that Rowling’s work chronicles real-world social issues through some not-so-subtle subplots and allegories, so far, no one has dedicated an entire book to the subject. And Brown hastens to emphasize this feature in her blog, where she admits that she has been doing some “promotional work” for the new book. (See http://www.thelppc.com/karenbrown-blogg-prejudiceinharrypotter.html).
Ironically, this book’s release coincides with the latest controversy surrounding Rowling’s work, as HPLexicon.com founder Steve Vander Ark’s efforts to publish his own ‘Harry Potter Lexicon’ have been thwarted by Rowling’s lawyers. They claim that the Lexicon breeches their client’s copyright and infringes upon exclusive materials that Rowling intends to use in her own ‘Harry Potter Encyclopaedia.’
Since Brown has made it possible for readers to write to her, I contacted her to enquire how she felt about the Vander Ark controversy, and how it impacts upon her upcoming publication. She insists that ‘Prejudice in Harry Potter’s World’ does not in any way infringe upon Ms. Rowling’s copyright, and that all copyrighted materials (quotes and long citations) are properly referenced and kept to a minimum, as specified by the Christopher Little Literary Agency, to whom she wrote years ago to request permission to publish an essay entitled “Harry Potter and the Minorities Issue.”
“Lots of publishers turned me down,” Brown claims. “And it was not because of copyright concerns: Many other things have been written about Rowling’s work, none of them being given her authorization or approval. But I found it curious that most of the rejection letters I got clearly stated that my study was not marketable because no one was interested in reading about prejudice and racism. Some editors stressed that people who read Harry Potter are not interested in reading ‘about’ the books. So in the end I decided to publish the book myself, and mostly for me, because I strongly believe in the ideas put forth in it.”
All things considered, Ms. Brown appears to be quite passionate about this project, and seems to understand her own legal standing where Rowling’s work is concerned: “I did not create Harry Potter, obviously. I simply comment on how the books make reference to some of the social trends in our own world. Wizarding-world biases and social hierarchy share some shocking similarities with our own world. And I think we need to stop and take notice.”
Rowling herself has stated in various interviews that the series is a “prolonged argument for tolerance.” And it is at least encouraging that one of her readers has chosen to focus on this message.
